Parish Business

The Counters are individuals who are willing to help count the monies received in collections. They are also responsible to record and deposit them in the bank. Counters must be dedicated people of the highest integrity.

Building and Grounds Committee
The Building and Grounds Committee is appointed by the pastor to help him oversee the maintenance and preservation of the Church, rectory, social center and other facilities. The members of this group conduct periodic inspections of the parish facilities, establish routine maintenance programs, do minor repairs and advise the pastor regarding plans for modifications, renovations and repairs. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating skills are useful, as well as a background in architecture, construction, building, and project management.

Finance Council
The Parish Financial Council advises the pastor. The purpose of this council is to advise the pastor in administering the ecclesiastical goods of the parish according to universal and particular law. This council is composed of at least three members of the Christian faithful skilled in financial affairs and of outstanding integrity. Each member is selected by the pastor, and are appointed for a term of five years. Each term is renewable. The Finance Council assists in preparing the parish budget, and reviewing income and expenditures.

Parish Development Committee
The Development Committee assists the parish in prioritizing, implementing and achieving long term goals which are deemed desirable for the spiritual and temporal growth of our parish community. This committee helps to implement the development activities for both parish and school working closely with other committees. Their work includes public relations and the communicative process, special events, fund-raising, major gifts campaign and grant writing.

These people also seek to educate parishioners regarding planned giving and estate planning strategies, making them aware of ways they can make gifts or leave bequests to the Church that can be beneficial in terms of tax liability to the donor as well as ensure the long range security of the parish.

Pastoral Council
As of the first Sunday of Lent, Feb. 12, 1989, every parish must have a Pastoral Council in place to give advice and counsel to the pastor. The primary goal of this council is to help every member of the parish grow to the fullness of his or her Christian vocation.

The Pastoral Council is separate from the financial council, which has a distinctive agenda concerned with temporalities and administration.

The purpose of the Pastoral Council is not to legislate, but to counsel and advise the pastor in the area of pastoral activities, to help the pastor identify pastoral needs in the parish, to assist him in planning pastoral programs and the improvement of pastoral services. The fundamental question always before the pastoral council then is: "How can all members of this parish be brought closer to Christ?"

Stewardship Committee
"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent and treasure. (Pope Benedict XVI)

This committee is designed to involve more parishioners in the spiritual life and vitality of our church by asking people to share their time and talent and treasure. The committee's work is to serve as facilitators who seek to make our parish flourish through its various ministries. Their mission includes working with existing ministries to support and strengthen their efforts, as well as helping to establish new ones.

The Ministry Fair is one of the major activities sponsored by the committee. It is used to inform parishioners about all ministries available, as well as to encourage people to get information or sign up as they wish. This group normally meets bimonthly.

If you are interested in any of these important ministries, please contact the parish office.
