Technology

St.Rose Catholic School

Student Technology Acceptable Use Policy St. Rose Catholic School

St. Rose Catholic School provides technology to its students for educational purposes. Technology classes are no longer offered as of Fall 2018. Technology will now integrate with academic classes. Access to technology services is provided to students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner.  Use of technology for programs, software, email, and to access the internet is a privilege, not a right.

I will:
1. Follow school rules while I am using all forms of technology.
2. Be polite, use “school appropriate” language, and proper email etiquette.
3. Use all technology carefully and not damage, change or tamper with hardware, software or desktop settings, or the network.
4. Use technology for educational purposes only.
5. Use my files and folders responsibly and will not share them with others.  I understand my files and my personal electronic devices are monitored and not guaranteed private.
6. Respect copyright laws and cite my sources.
7. Use email for educational purposes only.

  • I will not:
    1. Use technology to harass, threaten, or bully others.
    2. View, send, store, or display inappropriate messages or pictures.
    3. Download and/or play programs, music, games. etc. from the Internet or digital storage media.
    4. Trespass in files and folders of others.
    5. Intentionally introduce a virus or cause denial of service to other users.
    6. Link the school website to inappropriate websites.
    7. Use or attempt to use any external storage device that has not been approved by the teacher or school for use on the network.
    8. Use my personal internet enabled device to circumvent network security.

This form will be retained on file by authorized faculty for duration of the applicable technology/network/Internet use.

As a student, I understand and will abide by the guidelines and conditions for the use of the technology.  If the guidelines set forth in the Technology Acceptable Use Policy are violated, the student is subject to discipline as with any other school disruption and may lose access to technology for a period up to 180 school days.  Students and parent(s)/guardian(s) are required to read, accept, and sign this policy for acceptable use of technology.

As a parent/guardian, I recognize it is impossible to restrict access to all controversial materials and will not hold St. Rose School responsible for materials acquired or sent via the network.  I agree not to hold St. Rose School nor any of its employees responsible for the performance of the system or the content or costs of any material accessed through it.

I have read and agree to abide by the guidelines set forth in the Technology Acceptable Use Policy.  I understand that violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action or loss of network access privileges.
